The Dia de Muertos festival (Day of the Dead) is held on November 1st & 2nd. This celebration is held across Mexico to remember those that have passed away. This is not a somber gathering; rather it is an upbeat and happy festival to commemorate the lives of those no longer with us. Paper Mache Skeletons are commonly used (always smiling). Altars are setup with the deceased's favorite foods, drinks and treats to encourage their spirit to participate in the celebration. Nov 1st commemorates children and Nov 2nd commemorates adults.
